I like that this Holmes is a lot different from the Moffat/Cumberbatch approach. It’s still recognizable, but its a different side of the same coin. Where Cumberbatch’s Sherlock is severe and relentless, and really doesn’t give a fuck about other people, there’s some insecurity with this guy, and seems like a character that’s more aware of the damage he does and is sorry for it but still can’t help it. That also gels with the concept of him as a recovering addict.

There wasn’t much shown of Liu as Watson, but she’s supposed to be the straight man to Holmes’ quirky, so that’s not too much of a surprise. The gender swap is interesting but also a little boring - it has a potential to be another Martha/Doctor set up. I was about to say it would’ve been more interesting if they had gender swapped Holmes but then I realized that we already have that show, its called Bones. Even so, I still would’ve watched the shit out of that.
